Dear Parents,
Since Wexham opened in 1987 it has continually grown and progressed. Over the last few years Wexham has also achieved a number of significant national awards for the quality and high standards we achieve in a range of areas of school life.
These include:
- Awards for improvements in GCSE results.
- Artsmark silver award for work in creative arts.
- Healthy Schools Award
In particular our work as a Sports College has received a lot of praise and recognition. We have recently been re-designated as a Specialist College.
We have been used as an example of good practice in many areas. Awards we have received as a Sports College are too numerous to mention here, but the most recent are:
- Sportsmark Awards for "exceptional delivery" of PE and Sport.
- A prestigious "Special Recognition Award" at the Annual Sports Colleges Conference for using our sports specialism to improve pupils' learning across the school
The Sixth From which started in 2005 has been an outstanding success. It has continually grown in size, has achieved impressive results and has gone from strength to strength.
It has also been rewarding and pleasing that work being done at Wexham is seen as an example of good practice. Increasingly some of our departments and teachers are seen as 'leaders' who others can learn from and we have many visitors from other parts of the country who come to Wexham on the recommendation of others.
I hope that you agree that this is an impressive record. We are pleased and proud to gain such external recognition, but not complacent or satisfied. We will still continually strive to improve the quality of education that we offer our young people.
At Wexham we place great emphasis on both academic achievement and personal and social development. We provide a well balanced education for ALL pupils and aim for the highest possible standards.
We expect the pupils who come to Wexham School to:
- Work hard
- Have high standards of behaviour and appearance
- Contribute to the life of the school
- Achieve the success of which they are capable
We are encouraged by the continuing high demand for places at Wexham and aim to work in partnership with parents. We particularly appreciate the activities of an enthusiastic Parent / Teacher Association.
Over many years, people have commented on the special Wexham atmosphere. "Pupils Personal Development and Well - Being" have consistently been judged to be outstanding, with comments such as "Wexham is a happy and orderly community" where "staff are dedicated to pupils' welfare and progress" and "where relationships are excellent".
However, don't just take their or my word for it MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND, COME AND VISIT US AND SEE US IN OPERATION.
Please don't hesitate to contact the school if you would like to arrange a visit or if you have any queries which you would like answered.Mr. J Richardson
